Tour Itinerary

Day1.   Arrive in Addis Ababa, meet and greet at the airport by Ardi Ethiopia Tour and Travel representative then transfer to your hotel. Overnight in hotel

Day2.   Fly to Axum and then transfer to your hotel. Then visit the extraordinary Stele’s and the tomb of king Remhay (1st to 4th century AD), the church of St. Mary of Tsion (17th & 20th century AD), which is believed to be hosted the Ark of the Covenant, Dingur (believed to be the palace of the queen of Sheba) and at last the tombs of King Kaleb & Gebre Meskel. Day3.   In the morning take short flight to Lalibela and drive about 26Kms for your transfer to hotel. After check-in, start visiting the rock hewn churches of Lalibela which includes: Bete Medhanealem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskel, Bete Denagil and Bete Michael/Gologota, called the 1st group (according to their geographical location). After a lunch break, in the afternoon, at about 14:00hour, you will attend the Timket eve beautiful ceremony called “Ketera” and songs and different worships performed by priests and deacons. Overnight in Hotel.

Day4.  Early in the morning, you will again walk to the ‘Tabot Maderia’ to witness the early morning baptism “TIMKET” ceremony. Attend the baptism ceremony, when the Tabots move way back to their respective rock-churches, while feasting, singing and dancing continue all the way to the churches.

Day5.  In the afternoon, visit the remaining churches in Lalibela which includes: Bet Emanuel, Bet Rafael and Gabriel, Bet Merkorius and Bet Aba-Libanos, often called the 2nd group of churches. Overnight in Hotel

Day6.  In the morning, take a trip to visit the church of Yimrehanne Kristos.  The most popular churches outside of Lalibela.  After the visit, return to Lalibela for lunch and, in the afternoon, visit the most famous of all the churches – “BET GHIORGIS” constructed in honor of the patron saint of Ethiopia – Saint George.   Overnight in Hotel

Day7    In the morning, fly to Gondar. After check in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar the 17th century capital city of Ethiopia and one of the nine Ethiopia’s UNESCO registered World Heritage Sites, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings.  In addition, visit traditionally known as Fasilidas swimming Pool which is still used for Timket celebrations today and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous FRESCOE ceiling in Ethiopia. Day8.   Make a full day boat excursion on the largest highland Lake of “Tana (the source of blue Nile)” and enjoy visiting the ancient island monasteries of NARGA SILLASSIE (one of the several in the area containing typical Gonderian mural painting style), DAGA ISTIFANOS (Allowed only for men), Ura Kidane Meheret (one of the several in the area containing 17th century mural paintings), and if time allows, KIBRAN GABRIEL (Allowed only for men). Overnight in hotel

Day9.  Full day in Bahar Dar, a modern town on the shore of Lake Tana , the source of the Blue Nile River that hosts about 37 islands. After breakfast, drive32km to visit the spectacular Blue Nile falls localy known as “Tis-issat” means the smoke that fires about 32kms. In the afternoon, visit the BAHIRDAR market and enjoy the panoramic view of the city from Hailesilasie’s summer Palace, BEZAWIT area with the sunset on the Lake. Overnight in hotel

Day10.  Take morning flight from Bahirdar Airport to the capital city, Addis Ababa. After lunch break visit the National Museum (The house of an oldest hominid called “Lucy/Dinknesh”), Ethnographic museum (The house of many Ethiopian artifacts, ancient paintings and traditional music instruments), Mt. Entoto (The highest part of the city with 2300masl) and the biggest open air market in East Africa “MERKATO”. In the evening you will be a guest of ARDI ETHIOPIA TOUR & TRAVEL for a fair well dinner in one of the traditional restaurants of Addis Ababa; then after taking part in eating and dancing of folkloric dance, drive to Bole International Airport for your departure flight.
