Tour Itinerary

 Day1.  Morning make half day city tour of Addis Ababa including the National museum, Ethnographic museum and Markato / largest open air market in Africa/. Late in the afternoon, participate in the colorful Meskel festival and bonfire events that take place at Meskel square. In this festival, processions of finely dressed priests and locals celebrate the finding of the ‘True Cross’ with songs and dances around an enormous bonfire. Overnight Hotel

 Day2.  Early in the morning, depart on a flight for Bahir Dar.  On arrival, meet your local staff for transfer. After a quick check in, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit sacred of the monasteries Zege Penninsula, Azuwa Maryam and Ura Kidane Mehret church with the outlet of the Blue Nile River.  In the afternoon, drive about 32kms to the Blue Nile Falls for a short hike in the area and visit of the magnificent fall of Blue Nile locally known “TIS ISSAT” literally means the smoke of a fire. Conclude the day visit with the sunset over the lake.  Overnight in Hotel

Day3.   After breakfast, drive to Gondar.  This three-hour drive will take you through rural villages, offering wonderful insight into the Amhara culture.  After check in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings.  Additionally, visit Fasilidas’s Pool which has a size larger than the international swimming pool, still actively used for Timket celebrations and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous FRESCOE ceiling in Ethiopia. Overnight in Hotel

Day4.  Take a morning flight to Axum and on arrival you will be met by Ardi Ethiopia tours agent and transferred to your hotel.  Today you will have a full day visit to the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks and the archeological museum, the Queen of Sheba’s palace, Ezana’s inscriptions, King Kaleb & Gebre Meskel’s tomb, .  The St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept, is also a not to be missed site in the old archaeological city of AXUM.  Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Original Ark of the Covenant is kept.  Overnight in Hotel

Day5.  Depart with a morning flight to Lalibela, the most famous of all Ethiopian historical sites.  After lunch, start your tour of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, visiting the Northwestern Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha.    Overnight in hotel

Day6.  In the morning, take a trip to visit the church of Yimrehanne Kristos.  The most popular churches located outside the city of Lalibela, this church is built with layers of wood and granite, set in the entrance to a large cavern.  After the visit, return to Lalibela for lunch and, in the afternoon, visit the Southeastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rafael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos.  Finally, you will visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, constructed in honor of the patron saint of Ethiopia – Saint George.   Overnight in Hotel

Day7.  In the morning, visit the nearby monastery of Na’akuto La’ab, set at about 7kms from Lalibela on the side of a cliff.  After the visit, proceed to the airport for the return flight back to Addis Ababa. Enjoy last minute shopping of souvenir and participate in a far well dinner before your departure
